Would you like to Start Your Own Law Practice, Make at Least $100,000/year, put in less than 20 hours per week and work from practically anywhere you choose?
You can do it in 12-36 months and get it all started for under $1000.00!

Let a successful solo attorney teach you how to start and run your own law practice and make it unbelievably lucrative in as little as 12 months in this practical and untraditional book.

If you want to start your own law practice you definitely should. It’s unbelievably liberating to have your own business, report to no one and eliminate the worry of billing enough hours. Even better is that your clients will probably account for some of the most interesting people you ever meet in your life (you’ll certainly have some great stories).

From the Desk of Sameer Kumar:

Hi, I’m Sameer Kumar, a licensed (and practicing) attorney, author, professional speaker and consultant. I run an immigration law practice in New Jersey and I’ve personally achieved exactly what I’m teaching you to do. One of the most inspiring things about having my own practice comes from the respect that I get from others because I had the guts to start my own practice and have been successful at it. I’m not just talking about friends and family. I’m talking about corporate lawyers, district attorneys and other professional colleagues.

At the same time I understand the gut-wrenching fear that comes with wondering whether we can succeed as solo practitioners. We ask ourselves, Will I make enough money to pay my mortgage, my bills and still have enough time for my family and friends?

I believe that there is a simple answer to that question and I heard it several years ago when I had finished law school and was about to take the bar exam. The night before the bar exam the instructor turned to us and said, please raise your hand if you know someone stupider than you who has passed the bar exam. Every hand in the room went up with a roar of laughter we got it.

The same thing holds true with starting a law practice or any business for that matter. We all know someone who less intelligent, less capable and less hardworking but has ironically succeeded in running a law practice because they had the guts to boldly step out on their own.

I’m guessing that you’re reading this for one of three reasons:

  • you’ve always wanted your own business / law practice;
  • you can’t find a good legal job; or
  • you are completely burnt out by the corporate world.

In my book, Start Your Own Law Practice: Make Over $100,000 Working Under 20 Hours a Week, I will teach you everything you need to know about starting your own practice from setting up a website to getting quality, high-paying clients who are wonderful to work with.

If you already have your own law practice and aren’t seeing the returns you’d like, are putting in too many hours or just don’t know whether you’re doing it the right way, then this book will help transform your current business. By that I mean that it will create a business model that gives you absolute freedom of time by utilizing sensible methods to significantly increase revenue and employing unique tactics to drastically reduce your overhead costs (both fixed and variable). In simple terms, you’ll learn how to increase the money going into your pocket and reduce the amount coming out.

At the risk of sounding like a pushy salesman, I want to let you know that as of today I have not found anyone else that offers a book like this for other lawyers. There are certainly books and CLE classes that teach you about Hanging out your Shingle or Effective Strategies for Solo Practitioners but they employ the methods that attorneys have been using for decades . . . most of which are completely obsolete. They do not take into consideration the changes in market dynamics, consumers’ desires and most importantly how use of the global economy (outsourcing) and technology can make running a law firm just as successful as the old way with only a small percentage of the cost and effort. The information I’m going to provide you is going to make traditional attorneys think that you and have lost your mind. They’ll be astonished that you can practice law like this and still be ethical and attentive to customer care. Most struggling solos just can’t get rid of the traditional lawyer mentality. They’d never consider breaking the mold. They can’t even fathom the idea that these methods could actually could and save them hundreds of hours (thousands if you’re working billables right now). The first step in changing your life is changing your thinking. Start Your Own Law Practice: Make Over $100,000 Working Under 20 Hours a Week teaches you how to think like a businessperson who practices law instead of thinking like a lawyer struggling to run a business.

So what do I know about running a successful law practice? I think the best way to tell you is give you a quick summary of what I went through with my own practice. Here’s what the initial years were like:

  • Graduated law school with mediocre grades (to date I have no clue what my GPA was nor does it matter)
  • Failed both the NY and NJ bar exam the first time I took them
  • Started a solo immigration practice from my parents’ basement about a week
    before the events of 9/11
  • Made less than $40,000 my first year as a solo and had over $37,000 in
    expenses

That part of my law career wasn’t pretty. After that I moved into a new office, and turned my solo operation into a partnership back in 2003. I had one partner and 3 employees. That also turned out to be a bad idea so in less than 2 years everything fell apart and it ended up being a blessing in disguise. I dissolved the partnership, fired all my employees and then things started looking much better (as you will read about in my book).

Here’s where I stand today.

  • I run a successful law practice and make well over 6 figures per year
  • Spend no more than 10-15 hours per week practicing law
  • Have a practically virtual office that I can work from almost ANYWHERE in the world
  • Pay less than $1000 a month in overhead
  • Command a minimum hourly rate of $500 for every hour that I work
  • I did this all before I was 32 years old

In spite of how well things are going I’m still a simple guy at heart. My wife and I own a decent house and drive nice cars but we don’t have a thing for fancy dining (the small portions disturb us). I enjoy shopping at Old Navy and I can’t wait until they start selling business suits. We don’t own a boat or a house in the Hamptons but we have plenty of free time, are never concerned about making ends meet, enjoy spontaneous, week-long trips, wake up and go to bed based on our schedules and not that of a job and we have more than enough time to spend with our friends and extended families (not just on the weekends but during the week as well).

After getting through law school with mediocre grades, failing the bar exam in two states, and then spending several years practicing law to get nowhere exceptional, I decided to change things. I was doing a lot of things that I really didn’t enjoy and I was doing those things for too many hours every day. If you are like me and don’t find things like “legal research” exciting then read on.

So I took some bold chances (which in actuality were innovative and sensible) and I found a way to NOT do the grunt work and do what I did best: run a law firm (a.k.a. “a business”), manage people and generate more clients. I’m a people person and not a paper pusher. Spending hours upon hours every day doing paperwork was far from an efficient use of my time.

I wondered if I could escape my clients’ constant need to have me available every waking (and sometimes sleeping) hour of the day and I wanted to see if it was possible for me to run my law practice while I was out of town having a great time with family and friends. And guess what, I succeeded at both. The unbelievable part about all of it is that my clients are happier than they’ve ever been, I’m making more money than I’ve ever made, and I literally have to put in maximum of 10-15 hours per week (and that includes the time that I spend emailing and calling my clients).

Now don’t be deluded into thinking that I’m going to give you a magic pill that does everything for you so you just sit back and watch your business grow like a Chia Pet®. You need to lay the foundation for what will transform your practice into a highly efficient, low overhead, extremely profitable law firm that gives you great income and tremendous amounts of free time to do the things you really love. The good news is that when you go through this book (Start Your Own Law Practice: Make Over $100,000 Working Under 20 Hours a Week) you will learn to lay this foundation in as little as 12 months if you are a decent worker and probably in less time if you are a real go-getter.

Right now, I’m even going to tell you about two secret tools that allow me to do what I do. They are OUTSOURCING and innovative ways to KILL OVERHEAD. I’m not talking about hiring people for your office or saving on toner. I’m talking about radically destroying your overhead and having people work for you without them ever having to set foot in your office.

Remember, this is not some miracle formula but simply taking advantage of the tools that are at your disposal and using them to work smart, not hard. I worked hard for several years before working SMART. If you are working too hard and not seeing the results you want then you’re doing the same thing that I did. Stop wasting your time being busy, and instead, spend your life being productive.

This is not a quick-fix method of making millions overnight. If you’re looking for that then this is not the program for you. This series shows you how to start, and constantly build, a smooth-running business where law is the tool you use to get it done. You’ll build a practice with integrity that will provide you a constantly growing income while requiring less and less of your time.

I’m not going to say it’s easy. The hardest part is breaking the thought patterns that we, as attorneys, are accustomed to – long hours, tedious work and being at someone’s beck and call (whether it be your boss or your clients).
